Emails going to junk, or the wrong sender name
Emails are landing in junk
Section titled “Emails are landing in junk”Email providers like Gmail and Outlook decide what’s junk partly by checking whether the sender is who they say they are. If your emails are sent through a general sending service rather than your own business email or domain, they’re more likely to be filtered.
The fix is to send from your own business email. There are two ways we can set this up:
| Option | What’s involved |
|---|---|
| Connect your Google Workspace email | A short call with us. You’ll create an app password in your Google account — only you can do this, because it’s your account — and we’ll connect it |
| A dedicated sending domain | We add a few records to your website’s domain settings. Needs access to wherever your domain is managed |
Book a call with us to get either one set up.
In the meantime
Section titled “In the meantime”- Ask new leads to check their junk folder and mark your email as not spam. That helps future emails get through.
- Avoid ALL CAPS, lots of exclamation marks, and phrases like “FREE!!!” in subject lines.
- Don’t send a large campaign to a big list straight after setting up — build up gradually.
Emails show the wrong sender name
Section titled “Emails show the wrong sender name”Once your own email account is connected, that account controls the name people see — not the “from name” in SURGE. If emails are showing something like “hello” instead of your business name, the name needs changing in your email account’s settings (in Gmail, under Send mail as).
The most complete fix is a dedicated sending domain. Talk to us and we’ll walk you through it.
